Apparently, you can't sell just anything on Craigslist.
Sacramento sheriff's officials made that point Thursday to three people they say were trying to unload stolen hard drives by offering them for sale on the popular Internet classified ad service.
The case began when someone reported the theft of 250 gigabyte hard drives, and detectives from the sheriff's Hi-Tech crimes task force got the notion to look at Craigslist.
There on the site was an ad for 250 GB hard drives being sold "first-come, first-served."
Detectives called the number on the ad and posed as buyers, then headed out to the 5600 block of Auburn Boulevard, where they say they purchased two stolen hard drives and then arrested Eduardo Quiroz, 21.
Further investigation led them to a house where they arrested Edgar Hoffman, 45, and Lynda Hoffman, 41.
The suspects were each charged with Internet fraud, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
